Although the terms may have different connotations, there is little definitive difference between pubs, bars, inns, taverns and lounges where alcohol is served commercially. Because of Brisbane's glorious weather, Outdoor stages in "Brisvegas" are plentyful, from Pine Rivers Park to the river stage; they come in many sizes. Most gigs at these places involve licensed areas but generally cater for all ages.
Custom outdoor Venues are usually fields rented for festivals and other outdoor events, licensing tends to be flexible, however prepare for braving the worst weather in these outdoor events.
It is not unusual for a nightclub to live music gigs, or have a stage where bands perform. Usually the bands you find in clubs are more radio friendly type, but be careful, the nightclub dress code will still apply as well as an over 18 only license.
